All dogs even nice ones can bite.  It is proven each year as millions and millions of dog bites are recorded. The best way to prevent it is through education. Each year during the 3rd week of May, we focus on dog bite prevention.  In Montgomery County alone there are a reported 1500-1600 dog bites annually.

Pet ownership in on the rise and according to the American Veterinary Medical Association’s U.S. Pet Ownership Statistics there are over 70 million dogs living in U.S. households.

Here are some ways that you can avoid dog bites.

  • Properly train your pet – Seek the advice of a educated dog trainer.
  • Socialize your pet – Start socializing your pet at a young age so they are familiar with other pets and people.
  • Educate Kids on How to Approach a Dog – There are approximately 4.5 million dog bites each year and the majority of which happen to children.
