Amanda M. Theodore, VMD, originally from Connecticut, knew at an early age that she wanted to have a career in veterinary medicine. Growing up she was surrounded by family pets including dogs, guinea pigs, a cockatiel, and a bearded dragon. She also worked at a stable and took riding lessons. Dr. Theodore began her education at Villanova University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. At Villanova, she co-founded the Equestrian Team, was a foal-sitter at the New Bolton Center’s NICU and an intern at the Philadelphia Zoo.
After graduating from Villanova University, she was accepted to the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Theodore was Class President and awarded the Auxillary to the AVMA Award which is given to a 4th year student for outstanding activities contributing to the prestige of veterinary medicine and the School. She graduated with honors in 2008. After graduation, Dr. Theodore completed an internship at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in NJ and joined a private practice in Chester County, PA.
As much as she loves horses, Dr. Theodore missed the joys and challenges of small animal practice. In 2010, she joined a corporate small animal practice as an associate veterinarian and eventually became the Chief of Staff. In 2015, she joined the GVH team and is thrilled to work with others who are as passionate about animals as she is. Dr. Theodore enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and is especially interested in preventative care to ensure that our pets live long and happy lives. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband, children and their dog, a rescue named Hudson.
